Girona is an ideal day-trip destination from Barcelona (40 minutes by train). Located along Catalonia's Costa Brava, Girona is charming, authentic, surprisingly quiet and peaceful. I felt like I was really in the heart of Catalonia here. This is the kind of place where you can slow down, a place that puts you at ease, very different to the busy streets of Barcelona. The small town is filled with cobbled streets, Medieval walls, mansions, churches, courtyards and gardens. If you are a big fan of Game of Thrones like me, be sure to visit Girona as parts of Season 6 (Braavos) was filmed here!
